It’s rare to find hotel accommodation that offers the quiet comforts of being carefully tucked away while still being centered at the heart of local attractions. This is just one of several outstanding features of the Waldorf Astoria in Orlando. The property is a luxurious enclave complete with state of the art facilities, world-class restaurants, impeccable golf and a full range of resort amenities and experiences. Imagine all this within a minutes of a drive or shuttle to all of the Disney theme parks and attractions.
The Waldorf Astoria captures the ideal of a well located and excellently staffed resort at this location without losing its time honored heritage of refined elegance, opulent décor and personalized service. From the moment of check in we found staff to be friendly and efficient. Airport transfer takes around a half hour and for those driving it is good to note that there is a paid valet or one can opt to park in the shared garage with the Hilton property for a lesser rate.
The hotel lobby, reception and central bar are welcoming spaces adorned with modern shades of white, fine gold and silver metalwork, chandeliers and classic furniture. The entirety of the area looks out over lush golf course and tropical greenery as well as the relaxing confines of the central pools and gardens. The layout of the resort is spacious and grand especially because it is connected with the adjacent Hilton property. This is manifested in a giant conference and ballroom area that interconnects the two hotels.
The suite which we received was a pleasant bonus based on out rewards status. It consisted of a well appointed living room and kitchenette. There was a pleasant balcony with panoramic views of the golf course and a large bay window on the wall behind it which extended the same view into the bedroom. The room was furnished with deluxe, modern upholstery. There was much use of white tile, plush carpet, glass and rich dark woods. There was a Nespresso machine, toiletries by Salvatore Ferragamo, excellent entertainment and sound systems as well as a spacious shower and soaking tub. It was a bit of a surprise that a hotel of such a category had certain downsides, for instance waiting for three hours for turndown service after making three requests and being denied an extra half hour before check out. These are little things that should not happen that can make an overall pleasant stay experience complicated.
One of the nicest attractions for rest and relaxation is the Spa. The facility and access to it are included in the resort fee. It is set up as a series of chambers each with its own characteristic. There is a relaxation and reading room with ambient music, teas and snacks. Following that there is a steam and Jacuzzi room which then leads into a locker area. The gym is within the same complex and boasts beautiful views with plenty of exercise machines.
On site dining is never in short supply with the standard bearing restaurants one can find throughout the hotel Bull and Bear is the affluent hangout with prime meats and seafoods. Oscar’s is the location of the daily breakfast as well as other meal services and it provides plenty of fresh and savory options. Finally a major facility of the hotel is its perfectly manicured and sensational golf course. The journey begins at the refined club house complete with everything one needs for before or after a game. There is a driving range, putting green and acres of twists and turns sure to delight the expectant player. The Waldorf Astoria Orlando is a well located bastion of luxury and a place to relax in splendid refinement.
