The LPGA golf tournament is wrapping up its annual festivities at the Ritz Carlton golf course in Naples and once again it brings to the forefront this stately property and its multi-faceted appeal. The Ritz Carlton Naples Florida boasts two stellar properties which have interchangeable access between golf and the gulf, an easy transition from rolling greens to frolicking sands.
While both campuses of the Ritz are just a couple miles apart on the same road, this review will focus on the golf course property, known as Tiburon. It is often the more affordable of the two, especially a good deal in the summer season when things are hot, but morning golf and air conditioned afternoons make it a charming place to be nonetheless.
The Tiburon property can be easily accessed by flight directly to Naples Airport or to the nearby RSW International airport in Fort Myers which has many flights all over the U.S. and beyond. The first impression of the course and hotel is that one has found an escape in the midst of a mid sized resort city. It is a true paradise, which features glorious landscaping, wide lakes and manicured lawns. The drive in is lined with majestic royal palms that set the mood.
The hotel has the layout of a Mediterranean style sanctuary and resort all the while paying tribute to the origins of gold with an interior that focuses on a British colonial décor. This is especially prevalent in the lobby and public areas which feature lots of hard wood, high ceilings and stylized suites. Overall the check in process was fast and accommodating. Our loyalty program status was immediately recognized and honored with an upgrade. 295 room total fill the property and it is fully livable with first class in room entertainment, amenities, balconies with a view, and quick service.
There is a good gym, pool and three major dining establishments. For those on the lookout for a bigger gym or more dining options, just grab the speedy shuttle that takes one to the beachfront property. Here the possibilities only increase with even more dedicated hotel space for whole afternoons of exploring. The evening firepit onsite at the golf property is an essential ritual to enjoy the feeling of a wilderness at one’s doorstep.
It goes without saying that golfing here is superb. There is a world class pro shop, a TOUR academy for brushing up on the finer points of the game. The 18 holes are divided into the gold course and black course sections. The water hazards are noticeable, bunkers are ubiquitous and it plays quite well for a good test of anyone’s skill level. The greens are quite fast as well. Overall this resort and hotel leaves a lasting impression on the visitor as a great escape in the quiet reaches of SW Florida’s paradise coast.
