When considering a credit card for benefits it is first and foremost that the person applying has a sense of what their specific needs are. The United Milage Plus Club Card from Chase Bank is aimed at travelers, but not all travelers and their needs are equal.
The profile of traveler who should consider this card falls into the upscale, luxury or first tier category which we’ve referenced in our general outline of travel credit cards. Consider that this card has an annual fee of $395 USD and is available to U.S. Citizens and Residents. The top considerations for this card should be a combination of all three of these categories:
1A person who travels often
2One who flies United or Star Alliance
3A coach traveler who is looking for business class amenities
The reason all three of these should apply to your travel style is that the card will not be worthwhile otherwise. If you don’t travel often then buying some lounge passes will be cheaper than the annual fee. If you don’t travel with United or Star Alliance that often you will mostly likely not take advantage of premiere access and checked baggage savings. If you fly business class the perks of the card are already included in the cost of your ticket, lounge access, free checked bags etc.
Once you know if your travel style fits the card it then becomes a question of unlocking the card’s full potential to make sure it stays worth the annual fee. Remember this card may be good for some travelers and not for others, there are plenty of cards out there with different partnerships and at different tiers for annual fees.
How to get back from your United Mileage Plus Club Card:
United Club Membership -The card gives you access to any United lounge and to select Star Alliance lounges. Star Alliance Partner lounges are often of even higher quality, so it is worthwhile to look up what is available at the airport(s) along your trip. Cardholders can bring one guest to a Star Alliance Lounge as long as one is traveling on a Star Alliance partner flight.
