Argentina and Buenos Aires in particular has deep Italian roots. We heard this Italian restaurant, La Pecora Nera was good and it far exceeded our expectations. It is found in the stylish neighborhood of Recoleta. It offers a fine menu daily for Lunch and Dinner which is elegantly displayed on the prominent building of which it makes up part.
We arrived just at the end of lunch service, it is an Italian place, but feels likes like a tiny and luxurious Parisian bistro. Their fixed menus go for around 15 US dollars per person with a 3 courses and good house wine. It is really top notch and masterfully made Italian food. The little pizza tasted so delicious and authentic, the pasta was extremely well done with a cozy bar and a intimate setting that you feel would cost you a fortune anywhere else.
The furnishings were luxurious, the service was impeccable and the clientele were esteemed. It all felt like being on a movie set for a fine lunch or dinner with nothing of the cost or pretentiousness that a place like this would bring in any other part of the world. It truly is a black sheep for fine Italian dining and all the food products were wonderfully fresh and authentic.
