Hotel Review: The Fontecruz Lisboa, Portugal

fontecruz

The Fontecruz Lisboa is part of the relatively new brand Autograph collection member to the Marriott group. This brand has put together independent properties, each with a unique personality. The Fontecruz is a hotel with many strengths, we had a great experience during our time there.

The first great thing is the location, being on Avenida da Liberdade this is probably the place to be for those who want to explore the city, it offers as well very affordable rates. Just steps from the hotel is located one of the metro stations and this makes possible easy access to the airport and all the major attractions of the city.

This is a boutique hotel that prides itself on good personalized service and it is a fact that one feels immediately welcomed. It is a building that keeps with a proud historic past that has brought together elements of glamour and modern design.

The check in was made fast and extremely friendly, in our case we arrived early in the morning and we were offered a room intermediately without even asking for early check in and with no extra cost. The lobby is a hospitable place with a nice bar and a restaurant where it is possible to enjoy a nice combination of Spaniard and Portuguese dishes and a great selection of wines.

Our room was located in the fourth floor, the interiors of the hotel have a very contemporary design, with the use of local themes such as pictures and ceramic, with dark corners and hidden lights, it is certainly a unique feeling. There are 72 rooms, seven of these are suites, starting at 27 square meters. We enjoyed a great view of the main street, in spite of being in a busy area of the city the room was very quiet. We think it is nice size for a city hotel, the bed was fantastic, the bathroom is kind of small, but with everything one needs. Decoration is chic keeping with the theme of the rest of the hotel. We liked the service and friendly attention, we think that the cleaning service could be better (not being bad) since we noticed some things like spots in the mirrors or minor details, but it was overall a great room.

We regret the fact that there are no kind of amenities of any kind, such as health center, but its something understandable as it is a boutique hotel in a busy city location. The hotel has good meeting facilities, and a parking lot on site that is a surcharge.

We believe that the strength of the Fontecruz is the fact of delivering a great experience, with an excellent location and  amicable personnel, everyone was always ready to answer questions about the hotel or the city. This seems to be a hotel with an specific niche clientele in mind. It is more a property for young people looking for a good place to sleep and to enjoy a city that has so much to offer, it is as well an ideal hotel for business travelers since everything in the city is just close by. We will not hesitate to recommend this hotel to people who want to enjoy Lisbon, a city ready to be explored.
