Hotel Review: St. Regis Abu Dhabi

main

The hotel market in Abu Dhabi is expanding like never before. For those familiar or curious about this, the capital Emirate, towers and high rises are springing up all along the city’s beachfronts, islands and canals with world class pomp and circumstance. Among this lavish display of world renowned hotel entities sits the opulent and confident St. Regis in the sky scraping Nation Towers.

A Grand Entrance:

The first impression of the hotel, sets the tone for the entire experience, in a way so succinct that we have found it in very few hotels. The lobby opens up in a grand display of marble staircases, a central tapestry, gilded metalwork, lush carpets, abundant balconies, inviting furniture and shimmering chandeliers. Make no mistake, this isn’t the Arabic Palace of storybooks, it is the real living thing. Attentive staff whisk your baggage immediately and a dedicated check in room gets you speedily on you way to higher floors.

Rooms:

The hotel rooms and suites begin on the 33rd floor of the tower and continue up to the lavish suites on the 48th and 49 floors (whose wonders include room check in, staff quarters and internal spa facilities.) Standard rooms are majestic and true to form of the rest of the hotel. Decor has that ultra-luxury St. Regis feel, but specifically accentuated here with local designs. There is rich use of marble and gold, floor to ceiling windows with stunning views of the Corniche and waterfront and heavy carpeting and curtains to polish it off with a cozy feel. Remede Spa amenities adorn the 283 guest rooms which includes 55 suites.

A place of traditions:

This St. Regis might be far from the original New York property, but its fidelity to the traditions of the hotel is evident. Guests may request a Champagne sabering ritual anytime between 5 and 7pm nightly, afternoon tea service is held daily and the signature butler service is available to all guests. The butler team we found to be ever expedient, professional and friendly. Some finer details we requested were missed or not passed on however. Additionally we recommend that the different departments of the hotel get to know better the services of the others, so that when guests like ourselves have questions they can rely on any employee to provide details or seek the answer. Overall, the unmistakeable feeling of everything being arranged and at our service was present the entire stay.

First Class Amenities:

For guests who want resort style pampering in a high end business location this is the place to be. For in house guests access to the elaborate spa facilities like steam room and jacuzzi are found complimentary in the Remede Spa. A well equipped gym is also available on the same level with an elevated pool and outdoor dining area. One fitness, pool and health facility not enough? How about the beachfront property St. Regis has across the street with another full gym, steam, sauna, changing room, pool, bar, restaurants, beach and swimming area? This is the Nation Beach Riviera Club. It is accessible via an air conditioned tunnel that connects it to the hotel towers. One can enjoy business and resort sides of the hotel in the space of a 2 minute walk.

Additionally the St. Regis Abu Dhabi has a good number of restaurants, including Tuscan Dining and a fabulous steakhouse. It has quiet lounge areas for business, meetings, conferences and just reading. Boutique stores a well informed concierge and attentive valet staff all make up one of Abu Dhabi’s most stylish addresses.
