Hotel Review: Marriott North in Houston Texas

marriott1

This may be considered an airport hotel since it is not far away from Houston Intercontinental airport, it offers a free shuttle but it should not be confused with the other Marriott property located directly attached to one of the terminals. I really think Marriott North is far superior to the one located in the airport, it was renovated recently and service is really attentive and cordial resembling more of a good business hotel.

We chose this property recently during an international trip. We arrived late at night and we were welcomed in a very friendly manner. Check in was fast and efficient, there is free parking on the grounds of the hotel. They offered us a standard room and they were very apologetic of not being able to upgrade us since it was a sold out night.

The lobby is very modern, with a nice bar with open and welcoming spaces to socialize and work. There is on site as well the main restaurant that serves a breakfast buffet every morning with abundant hot options.

Our room was located in the 10th floor, it is easy to notice that the rooms have been as well renovated recently, I had the opportunity of staying in this hotel some years ago and it certainly looks like a completely different one. They have focused on delivering a modern and chic ambience. Beds were sensational. We liked the coffee from the room a lot. The bathroom even when it was small has everything one needs, including some premium toiletries.

The 8th floor is the executive level. The business lounge is a nice space, serving breakfast and snacks during the night, as is most common, alcoholic drinks are chargeable in the lounge, something that we only see in the United States and in some European properties and that certainly does not make us happy, there is nothing like relaxing after a tiring day with a nice glass of wine. Those staying on the executive floor are welcomed to enter in a complimentary basis to the executive lounge, the privilege is also extended to gold and platinum members of the Marriott rewards program.

Facilities are actually better than what one has come to expect from these kind of hotels in United States, there is an indoor/outdoor pool, a whirlpool and a gym equipped with state of the art equipment. There is not much to do around the hotel since it is located in a kind of isolated part, with several office complex surrounding the property, unless one has a car and wants to venture to some neighboring areas where it is possible to find many restaurants and shopping opportunities.

We were very pleased with our stay at this hotel, it is a good option for business visitors or travelers looking for a good place to rest before or after a flight. We really think that the relationship of value/offering in this hotel is one of the best of the surrounding properties to the Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston Texas.
