Hotel Review: Hyatt Regency Indianapolis

regindy1

Location and atmosphere are the wining virtues at the Downtown Hyatt Regency in Indianapolis. The Hyatt Regency is a good contender with the surrounding competition from Conrad, JW Marriott, Marriott, Westin and Embassy Suites. The lofty 22 story brick faced building is a combination of multiple venues, from some corporate offices, to public space, to the pleasant rooms of the hotel.

The hotel is at the heart of downtown goings on. It is connected via skywalks to the nearby stadiums, other hotels, the circle center mall and the massive convention center. Even if you are not in town for any events, you will certainly be in the spirit of them as you see lots of groups, fans and participants of all sorts. In spite of the high numbers the hotel is built on a large scale, so you can have a feeling of privacy, and the staff from check in to check out are friendly and always have time for your needs, a true accomplishment.

regindy2Those with Gold Passport Hyatt membership have received free WiFi as well as recognition of their status. Check in was prompt and straightforward. The main atrium of the lobby area is impressive. The entire center area of the hotel is open which creates the atmosphere of a grand space. The lobby has lots of comfortable seating. There is a Starbucks cafe for folks on the move and Level One is the contemporary lobby bar. One South which is an Italian-American breakfast and lunch venue is also conveniently located on the lobby level. For a real treat head upwards to The Eagle’s Nest, considered one of the most romantic restaurants in the U.S. it is a good idea to make reservations for the stunning panoramic dining venue.

Rooms have a sleek and uber-modern approach. There is lots of use of earthy tones and sharp angles, with good windows for natural light to come pouring in. Amenities are worthy of modernity too. There is Mp3 integration, an oversized desk and work area with excellent flat screen TV entertainment. The recent renovations in 2012 are a sign of how the hotel values its image and experience for customers. Rooms vary among standard, room with a view, regency club and suite. Rooms are spacious overall and beds and pillows are quite soft and comfy. A great tip for those with Hyatt rewards nights is that this hotel falls into the 1-4 category, so it can make a great place to use that benefit.

The hotel services and amenities are diverse since it has almost 500 rooms. Parking in any downtown area is hard to come by, so expect to pay $23 for self parking or $32 for valet parking. There is a 24 hour business center, computer terminals in the lobby for guest use, especially airline check-in, a full use gym open 24 hours, meeting rooms and ballroom. There is a light and airy pool and Jacuzzi area which seems to have been recently renovated as well. The Regency Club space is a private lounge area that has complimentary snacks and non alcoholic drinks available all day as well.
