Hotel Review: Conrad Indianapolis

indy-main

Exclusive and established are some of the defining traits of the Conrad hotel in Indianapolis. This luxury establishment combines the heartwarming hospitality of the area with the big city attractions found in the Mile Square area of the downtown. Completed in 2006, the Conrad is another remarkable step in the renovation of a reborn downtown.

Check-In

From the arrival we were greeted by a friendly valet staff who promptly ushered us inside from the harsh weather. The lobby is spacious and well decorated, a tribute to good taste in décor and worthy of Conrad standards. At check in our request for an upgrade was eventually fulfilled, however staff were hesitant and laborious in getting their manager’s approval. Nevertheless we eventually received an upgrade to a corner suite, complete with lavish furnishings and amenities with compelling views of the main city streets.

Rooms

indy2The hotel is a solid and majestic structure in the city’s popular district. It rises up to 23 floors and boasts around 240 rooms and 15 residential condominiums. The décor of the rooms in general and of the corner suite in particular is the luxury Conrad style. The room contains lots of furnishings, rich carpets, fabrics and lots of stone and porcelain in the bathrooms. The corner suite allows for a parlor bathroom for visitors as well as the interior bathroom. The King sized bed is well situated in the plush bedroom and the living room features a dedicated sitting area with desk, entertainment center and minibar, the perfect place for hotel guests to hang out or welcome their own guests. There are nice coffee and tea amenities to enjoy and WiFi for Hilton Honors Gold members is complimentary. Housekeeping and turndown services are dedicated and efficient.

Restaurants

As it is centrally located, the hotel provides for its long term and just visiting guests both. The lobby area is connected to a fantastic Capital Grill where indulgent food and refined settings are comforting. Tastings is located on the opposite side of the ground floor. It is a unique wine bar that features an eclectic selection from across the world of wine. Technology and temperature control mean you will get the best flavor whether you are buying a glass or an entire bottle. The by-the-taste concept is truly unique.

Amenities

For recreation and relaxation there is a dedicated fitness center, spa and water recreation facility. Guests have access to the pool, Jacuzzi, gym, sauna and steam room all located at the spa level. Treatments and beauty services can be readily had during normal business hours. For lovers of art and style, the hotel is overflowing with works of art in every public space imaginable. Meeting rooms, halls, lobby passageways give a majestic array of paintings, sculpture, tiles and much more. Finally one doesn’t even have to step outside to enjoy the bevy of shopping, restaurant and social encounters around the corner. The hotel has its own entrance into Circle Center at the Artsgarden pavilion. The hotel is connected to the covered downtown skywalk system which joins all the major hotels, shopping and convention center activities of the downtown.
