When in the market for a good night’s sleep, before, during or after a flight, an airport hotel can be a handy option. Oftentimes in the pursuit of proximity, other details like service, cleanliness and renovation can go overlooked. Not so at the Hilton Rosemont at O’Hare, a recent renovation provides a comfortable and enjoyable environment in which to maximize on sleep, efficiency and relaxation.

Our stay brought us here due to weather related flight cancelation, not an uncommon thing in Chicago. It can be a bit hectic seeking out a place to stay last minute, but the Hilton O’Hare was a good value for Honors points and not bad in price either. The location is a two minute walk from the CTA Blue line train coming from downtown. Once on the station platform it is easy to identify the hotel amidst several other airport hotels. It should be noted that there is another Hilton O’Hare Airport Hotel, in order to avoid confusion when booking.

First off the hotel is quite large and seems busy judging by the lobby traffic, typical of hotel next to a major world airport. Still check in is accomplished speedily and in a friendly manner. In fact hotel staff were friendly at every turn, even when interaction is more limited than it would be in a longer stay location. The lobby has a convenient Lobby Café which serves signature coffee products. Liberty Tavern is also a place for classic American cuisine and the spot where the breakfast is served for those who have it included in their booking. It is open before the first shuttle to the airport, so there is usually time to eat.

Rooms reflect a simple yet elegant touch for an airport hotel. Beds are comfortable, rooms are wired for modern technology, floor to ceiling windows give a larger sense of space and bathrooms are simple and functional. There is also a business center and complimentary printing service for any logistical needs. Internet in the rooms is included for members with Gold status.

There is also an international ballroom for meetings and events as well as a gift shop, indoor pool with skylight and panoramic views. A small but furnished gym occupies a scenic part of the building as well. With all of the renovations it stands out that the interior of the elevators are a bit in need of modernization.

The hotel offers complimentary shuttle service to the airport from early hours of the morning onwards and area shuttle services from 7am–11pm. Elevated walkways join the hotel with the major complexes and other hotel facilities nearby.

As far as the environs go, the hotel is conveniently located across the street from Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, a place for major conventions and trade shows. The Rosemont theater is nearby for musical performances and All State Arena is a popular place for local college sporting events. The newly erected fashion outlets of Chicago is a stunning place just a few minutes away, to gear up on the hottest trends from around the world in an outlet style environment.
