A review of the Conrad in Seoul South Korea

What first struck us about the Conrad Seoul was its really excellent location for those who like to go beyond the typical tourist spots in a city. The hotel sits in a lofty glass skyscraper that overlooks the city’s picturesque Han river, it is attached to the IFC mall and connected to the city’s extensive metro.

The hotel can be easily reached by airport bus or the metro. The airport bus stops just outside the main entrance and tickets can be booked in the hotel for departure as part of the room bill.

Rooms are spacious enough for a skyscraper and the views really are spectacular. Amenities such as fine coffee and teas, apple tv and bathroom comforts are all enjoyable.

The gym and pool areas are first class. There are machines for miles and even when a lot of people are working out there’s always something available. Staff are on hand in pretty much any part of the fitness and wellness facilities to be of assistance.

Food and beverage services we enjoyed were in the executive lounge and in the daily breakfast. In the lounge tea, coffee and some snacks are available all day. In the evening there are cocktails and appetizers to enjoy. The breakfast was held in the main restaurant and it was the highlight of the hotel. An endless assortment of fresh foods ranging from the most healthy greens, to Chinese, Korean and Continental offerings.

We found out that the hotel charges extra for access to the spa and wellness facilities. While an exception was made for our status it seems a bit picky, especially in a town like Seoul where bath culture is a high priority and other hotels of a similar price point have it included. That being said it was an excellent wet area with expansive steam, sauna, whirlpool and bodily care scrub stations.

Overall the Conrad had a beautiful decor and a very cosmopolitan feel. It felt slightly impersonal at first due to its size and full occupancy, but the hotel grew on us with its many delightful amenities and friendly staff.
