An experience of: Turkish Airlines Lounge Istanbul

DSC_0019

A recent series of flights and connections through Istanbul has proven to be not only a superb flying experience with Turkish Airlines, but the best Airport Lounge experience of our flying days thus far. The Turkish Airlines CIP Lounge in Istanbul is massive, occupying 60,000 sq. ft. It certainly lives up to the statement that the lounge is indeed bigger than some airports. There is enough room to host 1,000 guests at a time and traffic levels average around 4,000 people per day making use of the facilities.

Getting in:

The lounge is conveniently located on one end of the long promenade in the International Departures Terminal. The section area is H. The access of the lounge is available for Turkish Airlines Business Passengers, Elite and Elite Plus members of Smiles and Miles, Star Alliance Gold Members departing on a star Alliance flight as well as individuals in possession of some elite credit card programs have access.

Navigating the Space:

Once you’ve presented a identification document and boarding pass, one can enter the main hall. The lounge sprawls out over 2 floors in every direction, trust us its bigger than anything you’ve seen before, it is worthwhile to walk around and take in all the sights before choosing a place to settle down, there are always empty seats. Before you drag your luggage around however look to your immediate left. There are storage lockers that can be set with a personal code. Here you can leave the bulk of your belongings.

Layout:

If you are interested in taking a shower and have enough time to do so, we recommend you make your way to the center of the lounge. You hand over your boarding pass and get a buzzer that lets you know when your shower is available. One may also borrow electrical adaptors here for plugging in devices. Both the top and the bottom floors have the same relaxation and lounge areas as well as food presentations. The only thing that differs is the layout of each and the side amenities such as tv lounges, game rooms, public computers etc.

Cuisine:

The Turkish Airlines commitment to excellent food is unparalleled. One can walk around to find open refrigerators stacked with any kind of soda, water, beer, wine, liquor and juice imaginable. There are fresh cooking stations which are constantly serving up succulent Turkish delicacies as well as International favorites such as Pasta, Pizza, Asian and American dishes. There’s a sinfully tempting dessert buffet showing some of the sweets the turkish do best. Vegan and Vegetarian options abound as well, with delightful hummus, olives, fresh vegetables and healthy snacks.

Amenities:

The time spent in the lounge goes too fast already with the great food, relaxing chairs and refreshing showers. It will go even faster with the amazing amenities. There is a golf simulator, video game terminal, televisions with wireless headsets, a movie theater room, prayer room, billiards table, two grand pianos, a library and children’s room. Massage therapists circulate around the facility offering some wonderful shoulder and back adjustments while you spend time in style.
