Washington DC is a great city, very cosmopolitan and with tons of attractions. One of the difficulties for many visitors there is to find an affordable and safe place to park their car.
One is frequently faced with choosing a well located hotel, with easy access to the attractions and paying fares as high as 50 or 60 USD per night plus taxes and fees, or going far outside the city. Washington is actually an easy town to navigate as the airport is located in the outskirts of the city. There is a metro station in the airport itself that connects one to the whole city. Around the airport and particularly in the area called Crystal City there are located many well-known hotels such as Courtyard, Sheraton, Hilton and Marriott. These hotels have very safe covered parking lots. The dynamic is always the same, one gets into the hotel, parks there, takes the free shuttle to the airport and from there the Metro to almost any point in the city.
The ideal thing is to pre-reserve online, in this way the prices are really low as much as 8 or 10 USD per night. If one shows up at the hotel without a reservation the fee can be as high as 20 or 30 USD per night. The ideal thing is to use one of the many online parking reservation systems. It is as easy as typing in a search engine the term “parking around Reagan National airport”. One then prepays, and then prints the receipt and presents that receipt in the reception of the hotel.
Almost all the hotels in the area offer the same good service, so I do not have a preference for one or another. The last weekend we were in Washington we stayed at a hotel near to the White House. We parked at the Courtyard by Marriott Crystal City. We previously reserved this using the online service and everything was very straightforward and clear.
